Defence

Virtual reality game for neurorehabilitation that improves the time of reaction of patients, the mobility of their hands, the flexo-extension of their shoulders and their cognitive deficiencies derived from ADD (Attention Deficit Disorder).

What is Defense?

Defense is a VR Neurorehabilitation game , which uses a haptic glove (glove that allows the patient see and feel his hand in a virtual environment), where the patient must "defend" (with a shield) of launches made by several characters (an Eskimo child, a robot, a monkey, a baker and an alien). Each of these, throws a different object (snowball, spanner, banana, piece of bread and energy ball) and each object is associated with a shield (these are: wood, metal, sheet, wicker basket and strength, respectively).

The patient (by a movement of his hand or fingers), should choose the right shield to "defend himself" and perform a flexion-extension movement of his shoulder of a minimum of 45 degrees to be able to cover each object that have had thrown.

Game Parameterization

The game has four levels of difficulty (Very Easy, Easy, Medium or Difficult), the therapist must choose the ideal level for the patient (according to the degree of condition he has).

* If on the other hand the therapist wants to make a personalized configuration , he can also do it by customizing the game based on the specific needs that his patient needs.

Game environment and scene

Before starting the game, the patient is immersed in a fair environment (it shows a big wheel, a little train, etc.), it is at this moment when the patient sees the instructions to be followed for the optimal performance of the exercise and explanatory legend of the correct shields with which it must be covered according to the character that is going to throw the object.

Tarjeta de niveles del juego - On the left, gesture that the patient must do to change the shield, on the right, the legend with characters with the respective shields that the patient must use to cover them during the test -

The game starts, this is where the patient can see up to five fair stalls , where the characters will be released by throwing their objects (the number of active positions and characters will depend on the parameterization that was made before the start of the exercise).

Results. What measures Defence?

At the end of the game the results obtained by the patients during the session are shown, these results are shown by a series of graphs , graphs that allow the therapist observe the evolution of their patients in a simple and fast way being able to save the report in pdf.

- Graph showing the degrees of flexion-extension performed by the patient (red = patient, blue = minimum degrees of flexion-extension to cover) -
- On the left graph that shows the reaction time of the patient, on the right two graphs, the one above shows the balance between successes and errors and the one below which and where the patient's errors have come from -
- On the left there is a global graph of statistics of the session, just below it a button to print the results and on the right the summary of it, with all the results obtained -
